Welcome to AIG [dot] COM

Welcome to the new and improved AlmeidaIsGod.com, your first 24 fan resource and still the greatest Tony Almeida fansite on the net. The purpose of this site, in general, is to offer 24 fan appreciation content that goes above and beyond the standard character guides and episode summaries, elevating 24 fandom to entirely new levels of obsession. The purpose of this site, specifically, is to offer Tony Almeida fans from around the globe one single on-line destination to satisfy their every Tony craving. To sum it up, this is a comprehensive 24 fansite with a Tony-centric approach.

Just to state the obvious so everyone is aware - THIS SITE RUNS ACCORDING TO THE NORTH AMERICAN FOX BROADCAST SCHEDULE. For fans in England, Europe, Australia, Asia and other parts of the world that do not run the show according to the North American Fox Broadcast Schedule, this site may contain spoilers and you are reading it at your own risk. It is not our responsibility to help you avoid information about what happens in Season 5 -- you've been warned. If you send us e-mails complaining about how pissed off you are that you found out [insert plot point here] happened because you read it on this site, you will find us decidedly unsympathetic to your plight.

That being said, however, WE DO NOT TOLERATE SPOILERS in advance of the North American Fox Broadcast Schedule. If you post Internet rumours or inside information about the show in advance of the episode airdates in the guestbook or the forum, YOU WILL BE BANNED. Are we clear?

Here is another article about the Almeida resurrection that focuses more on Tony. I find it humourous that the article actally refers to his return as a "resurrection". If I were an arrogant woman, I'd say the concept of Almeida Is God has penetrated the mass media's collective consciousness!

In other news, I have the results of the last poll, about new Season 6 characters. 32% of you thought Mike Doyle was the best new character introduced in Season 6. 28% of you thought Tom Lennox was the best new character. 16% of you said there were no good characters introduced in Season 6, and 11% of you liked Nadia Yassir the best of the new characters. If you haven't already answered the latest poll question on Tony's resurrection, don't forget!

Wow. Well, the impossible has officially occurred. The resurrection of Tony Almeida is imminent. 24 is bringing Almeida back from the dead for Season 7. FOX has issued a media release verifying Carlos Bernard's return to 24. Read on for more ...

"Day 7" of "24" will continue the show's unique and trend-setting format with compelling new elements. With CTU dismantled, the show's setting moves to Washington, DC, where Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) faces trial for his actions in the pursuit of justice. Bauer's day gets off to a shocking start when former colleague Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard), last seen in "Day 5," returns after being left for dead by a terrorist conspirator in CTU's infirmary.

"Tony's uncertain fate near the end of 'Day 5' left the door open for his return," said executive producer/show-runner Howard Gordon. "And since there was no silent clock at the conclusion of his last appearance the '24' tribute to a major character's demise we always kept this as a possibility."

for the full story.

So, what does this mean? In a nutshell, AIG is BACK IN THE FANSITE GAME and all of us could not be happier. I could sit here and talk about how the show has completely 100% without a doubt jumped the shark. I could talk about how there is not even the remotest possibility that the writers will be able to explain Tony's "death" in an even semi-plausible or satisfying manner. I could talk about how both the move and the announcement of the move 5 months in advance is clearly a transparent attempt to bring disillusioned fans lost in Season 6 back into the fold, and to create hype for Season 7. I could talk ridicule Howard Gordon for his backpeddling after stating several times to the media that Tony is dead and the fans should get the fuck over it already (in not so many words). But I won't. Because the reality is that no matter how implausible and sensationalist this turn of events may be, I JUST SIMPLY DO NOT CARE. I AM TOO HAPPY THAT TONY IS COMING BACK to indulge in petty criticism. I'm over the moon with joy.

For the first time in a LONG time, my nether-regions are tingling in anticipation of new 24.

Heh. I finally get around to updating the site with only 2 episodes left in the season. Frankly speaking, there hasn't been a lot to say about this season. There's been a lot of talk, even among the very same critics who fell all over themselves to kiss Season 5's ass, that the series hasn't been up to par this year. I have to say I agree, but the difference between them and me is that I noticed the things they've been compaining about since sometime in Season 4. The writing has been nothing short of utterly abysmal. The return of past favourites like Milo and Wayne in major roles was a brutal disappointment. While both actors did everything they could with the second-rate material, there is only so much they COULD do. I was sorry to see Milo killed off, but all things considered, his death did not make that much of an impact, mostly because his character didn't make much of an impact.

The Bauer Family storyline is resumed for the final act, which I suppose is a good ting given how much attention was devoted to it in the middle part of the season. I was irritated how it was dropped so abruptly, so hopefully we will get some closure there.

Highlights of the season included William Devane's brief yet memorable reprisal of his role as former Secretary of Defense James Heller, as well as a surprisngly enjoyable performance by Ricky Schroeder in his role as what was probably the best new character of the season, Mike Doyle. He's a poor substitute for Chase, but he did well with the material and unlike other new characters, and managed to connect with other characters to bring a little depth to the action.

In closing, the results of the last (neglected) poll were as follows:

29% of you said that you had no highlight of your Season 5 DVD viewing experience because you refused to buy the DVD due to the seaosn sucking so badly. 25% of you said that the "Supporting Players" featurette with the only Carlos Bernard footage in the entire special features section was your highlight. 17% of you said your highlight was the deleted scene where Chloe kicks the sexual predator cab driver in the balls. Honorable mention goes to deleted Kim scenes, with 10% of the vote.

Our latest poll, asking you about new Season 6 characters, has been posted.

Finally, I haven't the desire or energy to archive old posts right now, so will get to that soon. Also, Season 5 Tony screencaps will be forthcoming, if and when I finally get around to it.

Well, Season 6 is upon us. People have written in wondering where the updates are. The fact of the matter is that I just don't have the same passion for this website that I once did now that Tony's gone, which means that the regular features we've had in the past, like Famous Last Words and debrief chat transcripts won't be posted this season. If you all must know, Matt was so disappointed and disillusioned by Season 5 that he's not even watching this season. And like Tony was an empty shell of a man without his Michelle, I am an empty shell of a fan without my Matt. Yes, I am watching. Yes, I am still commenting and critiquing, mostly on our message forum, but my fandom will never ever be the same without Matt. A sad fact. This website was our baby and our baby has lost its daddy.

That being said ... you all know how I felt about Season 5. It was heartbreakingly bad for so very many reasons. But I am kind of just trying to view Season 6 as a clean slate and enjoy it for what it is, let it entertain me, and not resent it for going mainstream and no longer being the brilliant work of art it once was. It's another TV show to me now. But since all I expect to get out of it this Season is entertainment, it's doing its job in that regard.

Loving Wayne as President. Though the concept of Wayne being elected President is extremely far-fetched, DB Woodside is fabulous and it's so cool to see that he has remained true to the essence of Wayne while evolving the character in his new position.

Thus far I'm slightly disappointed by the lack of meaty Milo action. It's been 5 episodes and he hasn't done sweet fuck all. I hope he gets more action soon, because he's being wasted!

If the writers try and make Bill and Karen the new Tony and Michelle I will seriously vomit. Reusing the wedding ring shot was cheap and sad. Debate rages on over at the forum about whether or not this expository device was acceptable or nothing more than a grevious insult to the memories of Tony and Michelle. I vote the latter. It was unoriginal and lame.

Making Bluetooth Boy from Season 5 Jack's brother was a stroke of bizarre genius. I guess the writers have finally figured out that they can still shock us without killing somebody off. Am thoroughly enjoying that and look forward to where it goes. Jack's supposed "nephew" is sooo his secret son. The kid they cast as Josh Bauer looks like he really could be Elisha Cuthbert's brother.

Speaking of gratuitous character deaths, hasta la vista, Curtis. I'm glad this useless character was finally offed. I never liked Curtis, I won't miss him, and let's be honest ... his presence or lack thereof made no impact and no difference whatsoever in the quality of the series. It's shameful that they condensed the brilliant plan they axed last season for Tony's death and gave the reconstituted version to Curtis (Jack forced to kill friend before friend can kill nebulous terrorist CTU needs information from). No need to reinvent the wheel, eh writers, when you can steal Carlos Bernard's genius idea and reuse it in a so much less inspired way? If you are reading this, no matter how much cool stuff you do in Season 6 and no matter how many obscure characters that Kasia loves you bring back to the show (Milo!) and no matter how many useless and annoying characters Kasia hates that you kill off (Edgar! Curtis!), I WILL NEVER EVER EVER FORGIVE YOU FOR TONY'S CRAPPY, MEANINGLESS DEATH.

What could make this Season better? Well, aside from a fantastical ressurection of Tony Almeida (which won't happen, sadly), they need to bring back Aaron Pierce and Mike Novick, Kim Bauer and I wouldn't mind catching up with Audrey.

OK, that's all for now. Our forum is pretty active these days, so once again you are all of course invited to register an account and get involved. I'm thinking about starting chats after the show airs each week, so if you're interested in that, drop me a line.

OK, so it looks as though the unlikely rumour about Tony's resurrection has been officially debunked. This article details information straight from Carlos that he is focusing on writing projects and will not be involved in the 6th season of 24, despite the weird "alleged" interview given in November. Boo.

Sadly, this will destroy the hopes of the 338 people (62% of the total vote) who indicated that the unlikely rumour about Tony's resurrection was the aspect of forthcoming Season 6 that made their nether-regions tingle the most. I was excited about it too, people, and even though I never really believed it would actually happen, it still bums me out that it WON'T happen. Coming in a distant second, 9% of our voters experience tingling at the prospect of Milo. I have to say, Milo is pretty much the sole reason I will be watching Season 6. Well, that and more Wayne. I also hope there is plenty of Pierce and Novick action in Season 6, but sadly, there will be no Tony and therefore I will be completely and utterly unable to truly love Season 6. 7% of voters indicated that after the pathetic farce that was Season 5, nothing about Season 6 makes their nether-regions tingle. Hey dudes, I hear ya. In honourable mentions, 6% of voters are tingly about the prospect of Wayne as Prez, and a further 5% are rooting for Audrey's (un?)timely demise. Check out our new poll, related to the Season 5 DVD release.

Speaking of the DVD release, while I refused to give Fox any of my OWN money to purchase the pathetic farce that was Season 5, I did put it on my Christmas wish list, simply because it just seemed wrong not to own Tony's final moments in my collection, when I have all the other seasons. My boyfriend got it for me and I had the opportunity to check out the special features disc. Overall, I was disappointed but then again, the entire season was pretty much a disappointment, so this was nothing new. For more thoughts, see this thread on our forum.
